Landmarks, railways, hospitals and infrastructure lifecycles
Grupo Empresarial San José is a construction-led Spanish group whose specialist arms extend selected projects into energy, concessions, maintenance and project management. In the first half of 2026, construction generated 91.8% of revenue and represented 79% of the group's €4.074 billion contracted backlog at 30 June. The distinctions matter: the listed group often works through operating subsidiaries, multi-company joint ventures or concessions, and it does not operate every facility it builds.
Signature buildings
A museum-city and a solar-roofed European laboratory
At Louvre Abu Dhabi, Constructora San José was one of three joint-venture members alongside Arabtec and Oger Abu Dhabi—not the sole builder. The museum's 7,500-tonne dome uses eight layers and 7,850 geometric stars to create its “rain of light.” In Seville, Constructora San José and SEMI received the European Commission contract for a new JRC facility. Its photovoltaic canopy is intended to shade the square, garden and building; the project aims to offset lifecycle emissions. These are design ambitions, not completed certification outcomes.

Rail engineering
Across a reservoir and through a station kept in service
UTE Contreras, formed by Azvi and San José, delivered the 6.52-kilometre Contreras–Villargordo high-speed section, including three tunnels and three viaducts. At Madrid Chamartín, Constructora San José was one of four UTE members awarded a €206.97 million contract to remodel and expand the main hall and add four high-speed tracks. Adif put the 18,000-square-metre main hall fully into service on 2 June 2026; its wider €560 million station programme also included work outside that UTE. Healthcare construction
Building hospitals without confusing builder and operator
At Melipilla in Chile, SANJOSE was the construction contractor—not the healthcare operator—for a 60,834-square-metre hospital. Chile's public health service completed the move on 8 July 2026: capacity rose to 239 beds, with seven operating theatres, 30 critical-care beds and a helipad. The hospital is part of the public-health network. In Spain, the contractor's Quirónsalud Zaragoza record describes a 31,657-square-metre hospital with 253 beds, 23 intensive-care places and 16 operating rooms; a 2026 official film shows the completed spaces.

Infrastructure lifecycle
Contractor, maintainer, concessionaire and adviser are distinct roles
At Madrid-Barajas, Aena contracted Construcciones San José to engineer, supply, build, commission and maintain a 142.42 MWp photovoltaic plant. In April 2026, Aena reported that the plant had been commissioned and called it Europe's largest solar installation at an airport; SANJOSE is the contractor and maintainer, not the airport operator. In Chile, Constructora San José's local agency holds the Copiapó prison concession: a 76,600-square-metre, 2,160-place project whose 20-year operating term begins only after construction. Recent awards add repeat luxury housing, bounded residential and tourism packages in Portugal, and adaptive reuse plus student and hotel accommodation in Spain. Construction still generated 91.8% of H1 revenue; the operating story is the variety of spaces and geographies now entering the pipeline.

One more villa joins four nearby builds for the same client
Beachbox Villaco's 26 August award adds villa R1 near four villas, R2 to R5, that SANJOSE says it is already constructing in northern Ibiza. Across the five, the issuer describes more than 6,000 square metres: basement parking and service areas; indoor and outdoor kitchens and living spaces; gardens and pools; three first-floor bedrooms; and roof terraces. The notable change is repeat work for one client at one location, not a new operating business. The evidence boundary is equally important: the source records an award for R1 and current construction for R2 to R5, but gives no completion or handover dates. Beachbox Villaco is the client and SANJOSE Constructora the contractor; the source does not make the listed group owner or operator of the homes.

02 · Portugal
Two Phase-I awards define sharply different Portuguese scopes
KIG Nature I, a Kronos Homes company, awarded SANJOSE Constructora Portugal only the earthworks, perimeter retaining walls, foundations and reinforced-concrete structures for Phase 1 of La Reserve in Sintra. The planned overall development is nearly 30,000 square metres with 101 homes. Separately, Vilamoura Lusotur awarded SANJOSE Constructora Portugal Phase I earthworks, foundations and structural works for a beach club of more than 3,000 square metres. It will sit between Dom Pedro Residences, completed by SANJOSE in 2024, and The Uncommon Beach Residences, which SANJOSE says remains under construction; those two residential schemes, excluding the beach club, total 175 homes and about 45,000 square metres. At 30 June, international backlog was EUR 1.320 billion versus EUR 708 million at year-end. That measurement predates both the July and August awards, so it cannot establish their contribution.

03 · New uses in Spain
A textile factory, student rooms and a hotel show the range of new uses
The Autonomous University of Barcelona awarded SANJOSE Constructora the facilities-work contract in Phase I of the renovation, rehabilitation, adaptation and transformation of Sabadell's historic Artèxtil factory. The stated goal is to turn a textile-industry landmark into a university hub for knowledge and research; the source does not award SANJOSE the entire rehabilitation or report a completed campus. In Madrid, Micampus Xaudaró 5 separately awarded execution works for a 206-room student residence at Xaudaró 5 and a 73-room hotel at Labastida 5. Together the two developments exceed 10,000 square metres, but neither is reported open. The UAB and Micampus awards are separate. Read together, they show the construction platform working across adaptive reuse, university research, student living and hospitality without making SANJOSE the eventual operator of any of those activities.
