This page explains what personal data the European Growth Leaders website (egl100.org), its YouTube channel and the tool used to publish its videos on YouTube handle, and why. We collect as little as possible.
Who is responsible
The website egl100.org and the YouTube channel European Growth Leaders belong to Francesco Castellaneta, who runs them as a private individual. He publishes and edits European Growth Leaders for the Growth Leaders Observatory, an independent, academic and non-commercial research observatory. Professional affiliations do not make any institution the owner or publisher of the site and do not imply institutional endorsement. Francesco Castellaneta is the data controller for the processing described on this page; “we” on this page means him.
Visiting the website
The website uses no cookies, shows no advertising and has no user accounts. It loads no third-party fonts, embedded videos or social-media widgets. Links to other websites, including videos on YouTube, take you to those sites only when you click them, and their own privacy policies then apply.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. To deliver pages and protect the service, Vercel processes standard technical request data, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, under the Vercel privacy policy.
- Audience measurement. We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which work without cookies. They record page views, the referring website, coarse location (such as country), browser, operating system and device type, and page-loading performance. Page addresses are recorded without query parameters, except standard campaign labels (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content). We see only aggregate figures and use them to improve the Observatory.
- Your choice. Measurement is switched off when your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. Measurement setting for this browser: switch off measurement in this browser. This choice is remembered by a single setting in your browser’s local storage, not by a cookie.
Contact form
If you write through the contact form, we receive your email address, subject and message, the page you wrote from, and anything else you choose to add: name, role, organisation, main interest, how you found the Observatory, and your optional consent to public acknowledgement or to occasional Observatory updates. The message is delivered by email through Resend to the Observatory’s Google Workspace mailbox. Your IP address is held only in server memory to limit abuse of the form; it is not included in your message.
We use these details to reply, to investigate corrections and to protect the form from abuse, on the basis of legitimate interests. Public acknowledgement and occasional updates rely on your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the form. Ordinary enquiries are kept no longer than 12 months after our final reply; evidence supporting a published correction may be kept longer to document the integrity of the publication. Vercel, Resend and Google act as service providers and may process data outside the European Economic Area under their published safeguards. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
YouTube channel and YouTube API Services
Our videos are published on YouTube, on the channel European Growth Leaders. They are uploaded and managed through the YouTube API Services, using “EGL Video Publisher”: an internal command-line tool used only by Francesco Castellaneta, signed in to his own channel. The tool is not offered to the public, and no other person signs in to it. As its only user, the owner has accepted this policy, our Terms of use and the YouTube Terms of Service before using it.
By using YouTube, including to watch our videos there, you are bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. The Google Privacy Policy describes how Google handles your data on YouTube.
- Data the tool accesses. Only data of the owner’s own YouTube channel that is needed to publish and manage his videos: the channel’s identity (channel ID, name and handle), to confirm that the tool acts for the right channel, and the details of his own videos, thumbnails, captions and playlists. It does not access, collect or store data about viewers, commenters, subscribers or any other YouTube user.
- How the data is used. To upload the owner’s own videos, set their thumbnails, add captions and add them to playlists; to edit their titles, descriptions, tags and visibility; and to delete his own superseded videos that are currently private or unlisted. The videos, texts and images the tool sends to YouTube are produced by the owner. The data is not used for advertising, profiling or any other purpose.
- Storage. The tool’s credential file holds its OAuth access and refresh tokens and the application’s OAuth client ID and secret. It is kept only on the owner’s own server, never on this website. Channel and video details are processed in memory; the tool prints identifiers, links, titles and status to the owner’s terminal, and the identifiers and links of his own uploaded videos are kept in his production notes. No other YouTube data is stored.
- Sharing. Credentials and video details are sent only to Google’s OAuth and YouTube API services, to authenticate and manage the owner’s channel. No data obtained through the YouTube API Services is sold to, shared with or disclosed to any other party.
- Your device. The tool does not run on the devices of website visitors or YouTube viewers, and it places no cookies or similar technology on them.
- Revoking access and deletion. The account holder can revoke the tool’s access at any time on the Google security settings page; the tool can then no longer reach the channel. After access is revoked, the owner deletes the credential file and any stored API data promptly, and at the latest within 30 days. A request to delete stored API data can also be sent through the contact form and is handled within the same period. The tool holds no data about viewers or other users, so there is no such data to delete. Revoking access does not delete videos already published on YouTube; they are removed in YouTube Studio.
- Google API Services User Data Policy. The tool’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Your rights and contact
You may ask for access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data, ask us to restrict its processing, or object to it. Send any privacy request, question or complaint, including about the YouTube publishing tool, through the contact form. You may also lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, CNIL.
Use of the website and the videos is also covered by our Terms of use. If these practices change, we will update this page and its date.
