Connect power and data from the seabed to the data centre
Prysmian makes the physical links behind electrification and digital networks. Its systems range from submarine and underground high-voltage cables to building wire, optical fibre and data-centre connectivity. The group also engineers entire links, installs them with purpose-built vessels and monitors assets after commissioning, joining materials science, factories, marine operations and network analytics in one delivery chain.

Build the cable, protect it and read its condition
Transmission and distribution systems include P-Laser thermoplastic cables, E-PATH-labelled products and accessories for high-, medium- and low-voltage networks. PRY-CAM adds continuous or temporary monitoring from 3 kV to 600 kV, turning electrical and environmental measurements into evidence for maintenance teams.

Digital infrastructure
Fit 864 optical fibres inside a cable less than one centimetre wide
Digital Solutions spans fibre, copper, connectivity, telecom access and data-centre infrastructure. Sirocco Extreme uses 180-micrometre BendBrightXS fibre and PicoTube technology: its 864-fibre version measures 9.8 millimetres across, helping operators add capacity inside congested ducts rather than excavating new routes.

Vessels and production
Lay deep-sea cables from a floating factory supplied by a vertical one
Prysmian Monna Lisa is 171 metres long, carries 17,000 tonnes of cable in two carousels and is designed for depths beyond 3,000 metres. At Pikkala in Finland, a 185-metre vertical production tower can make about one kilometre of 525 kV submarine cable per day.

Join islands and national grids across extreme routes
The Tyrrhenian Link uses lightweight synthetic armour for a record 2,150-metre installation trial. Viking Link combines roughly 1,400 kilometres of land and submarine cable between Britain and Denmark. NeuConnect adds a 725-kilometre, 1,400 MW UK-Germany route, while SuedOstLink takes 525 kV underground technology across Germany.

What is changing at Prysmian in 2026?
Prysmian is moving from connecting data-centre campuses to wiring their interiors, from selling cable to adding the hardware around it, and from solid-glass fibre toward air-core experiments.
The change in one sentence
Three moves target different physical layers of AI infrastructure: dense fibre inside buildings, cable-adjacent hardware on the job site and lower-latency links between clusters.
Their evidence stages differ: Molex is a long-term supply agreement with ceilings, Atkore is signed but not closed, and hollow-core has passed a deployment test without a reported customer network.

01 · Inside the data centre
Molex takes Prysmian from the cable route into the crowded space inside the building
On 20 July Prysmian signed a Molex agreement for up to EUR5.5 billion of optical cable over up to ten years, supported by a EUR550 million upfront payment. The broader plan describes EUR10 billion of cumulative hyperscaler/data-centre revenues, up to EUR1.1 billion annually from 2031 and EUR1.25 billion of capacity investment through 2031, including more than doubling US fibre capacity. The EUR550 million upfront payment is a distinct contract term, but the release does not state when or how it is recognised as revenue. The up-to totals and future annual/cumulative figures remain ceilings or forward plans, not guaranteed realised sales. H1 Digital Solutions revenue of EUR991 million and 13.8% organic growth describes the existing business and should not be attributed wholly to this newly signed programme. Separately, Sirocco Extreme shows the density problem: 864 fibres inside a 9.8mm cable. No source says Molex buys that exact product.

02 · Hardware around the cable
Atkore would add conduits, trays and framing — if the signed transaction closes
Prysmian entered a definitive merger agreement on 3 August to buy Atkore for $95 per share in cash, an implied enterprise value of about $3.8 billion or EUR3.3 billion. Atkore makes the steel, PVC and aluminium conduit that protects cable, plus trays, ladders, baskets, armouring, framing, pipes and fittings across about 30 major manufacturing/distribution centres with roughly 5,400 employees. The parties target a calendar-year-end close, subject to Atkore shareholder, regulatory and customary conditions. Prysmian's FY2026 guidance excludes the transaction. Approximately $150 million of annual run-rate EBITDA synergies within three years of closing is a management target, not a contribution already achieved.

03 · Hollow-core test
Hollow core moves from a 10mm Prysmian test cable toward a partner-reported hyperscaler order
Prysmian, Relativity Networks and Dura-Line completed a deployment test of a 10mm cable containing 24 hollow-core fibres. It was installed in microduct at up to 350 feet per minute and met customer attenuation requirements. The cable is based on Prysmian's Sirocco cable architecture, but it is a distinct hollow-core product from the separately reported 864-fibre solid-glass Sirocco Extreme cable. The parties claim nearly 50% faster transmission and potential synchronised-cluster distance from about 60km to 90km. On 19 August, Relativity then announced a $40 million follow-on order from an unnamed hyperscaler after that customer tested ChronoCore linking two data centres. Relativity says ChronoCore is produced at Prysmian's Eindhoven site and cabled in Claremont. The order is Relativity's; neither fibre volume, delivery schedule nor Prysmian revenue allocation is disclosed. This is commercial order evidence beyond mere potential, but not a named live operating network or recognised Prysmian revenue.
