Company profile

Hospitality brands, destination infrastructure and year-round resorts

Valamar Riviera develops and operates hotels, resorts and campsites across Croatian Adriatic destinations and the Austrian Alps. Its model joins property investment with distinct consumer brands, direct distribution, food, entertainment, sport and local experiences. Flagship projects such as Pical also add promenades, beaches, pools and event infrastructure intended to strengthen the surrounding destination.

Brand architecture

Five propositions range from lifestyle hotels to glamping

Valamar Collection is the destination-shaped premium tier; Valamar Hotels & Resorts covers broad full-service stays. [PLACES] adds flexible dining, digital services and a social lifestyle format, while Sunny targets simpler value-led beachfront holidays. Valamar Camping stretches from pitches to camping homes, villas and glamping tents, often organised around pools, piazzas and family facilities.

Family and guest experience

Pical turns the Maro concept into a destination-sized product

At Pical Resort, all-day supervised Maro clubs sit beside science, art, cooking and sports academies. SpacePark takes its theme from the nearby Visnjan Observatory; JumpOn adds a two-level 400-square-metre trampoline zone and PlayLand spans more than 1,200 square metres. The wider resort combines family and V Level accommodation with restaurants, beaches, pools, wellness, sport and an event centre.

Footprint and investment

Adriatic islands meet an Alpine winter season

The portfolio runs through Istria, Dubrovnik and the islands of Krk, Rab and Hvar, with an Alpine base in Obertauern. Valamar's 2025 report records 1.2 million guests and 6.5 million overnight stays. Pical, a project worth more than EUR 200 million, opened in March 2026 to support premium year-round tourism; Arba Resort on Rab had opened in 2025 as another family-led repositioning.

Destination and sustainability

The value chain extends beyond the room

Valamar describes an integrated chain spanning asset development, maintenance, operations, direct sales and destination partnerships. Guest pages make the last step visible through Istrian wine, truffle, cycling, sailing and heritage experiences. The environmental layer includes renewable electricity, on-site solar generation, certified properties and stewardship of more than 80,000 trees, alongside local-supplier and community programmes.

Current 2026 update

What is changing at Valamar Riviera in 2026?

Valamar has moved two ends of its brand ladder into operation: Pical as a premium family micro-destination and Sunny Poreč/Aquamar as a family-value cluster, while restaurant concepts turn Poreč into a wider destination product.

Latest official evidence H1 opening and operating update Published 31 July 2026

The change in one sentence

Rooms are only one layer: family infrastructure, a shared waterpark and signature food now shape the offer.

Pical and Sunny/Aquamar entered operational ramp-up before peak season, while Harry's Piccolo earned a Michelin star and JAZ and Spinnaker received recommendations across separate venues.

Four lenses on 2026

The same four-quadrant format used in the Company profile.

01 · Pical micro-destination

A five-star opening behaves like a small destination

Pical Resort 5*, Valamar Collection opened in mid-March with 513 accommodation units spread across three properties beside three beaches. Valamar describes the investment, above EUR200 million, as Croatia's largest tourism project and a move toward premium, year-round tourism; these remain issuer characterisations rather than property-performance evidence. The scale becomes tangible in the product: 11 indoor/outdoor pools, 11 restaurants, nine bars, beach club, spa and bike, tennis and water-sport facilities. About 8,000 square metres are devoted to families. Maro adds all-day supervised clubs and academies; SpacePark takes inspiration from the nearby Višnjan Observatory without implying ownership or operation by the observatory; JumpOn is a two-level 400-square-metre trampoline area and PlayLand exceeds 1,200 square metres. These are offered facilities, not proof of occupancy, usage or realised demand.

02 · Sunny and Aquamar

A value-led family hotel shares a five-pool waterpark

The Brulo cluster's early-July debut repositioned the former Crystal Hotel and Diamant Apartments into the 4-star Sunny Poreč by Valamar, listed at 357 keys. Sunny expresses the value/family end of the brand ladder through an extended breakfast, brunch and dinner rhythm, a Play Zone and beach proximity. Alongside it, the new Aquamar Brulo adds five pools with 1,378 square metres of water, slides and age-specific areas. Aquamar is shared by Sunny Poreč and the separate Valamar Diamant Hotel; it is destination infrastructure, not another hotel, and its facilities are not described as exclusive to Sunny guests. The H1 report groups Pical and Sunny/Aquamar in a full operating ramp-up before the third-quarter peak. That is an opening state, not evidence that staffing, service delivery or guest demand have already stabilised.

03 · Gastronomy as destination

One Michelin star and two recommendations spread beyond a single flagship kitchen

Harry's Piccolo Poreč, at Pical Resort and associated with chefs Matteo Metullio and Davide De Pra, earned its first Michelin star about three months after launch; Valamar's H1 report calls it the first restaurant in Poreč to achieve the distinction. Two other Valamar restaurants received Michelin recommendations, a different state from a star. JAZ is at the separate Jadran Heritage Hotel and uses a concept associated with Ana Roš; the evidence does not say she personally operates it. Spinnaker is a separate Poreč restaurant, and the current sources do not place it inside Pical. The recognition therefore spans distinct restaurant concepts and venues rather than one resort kitchen. It supports Valamar's product claim that food can form part of a destination circuit, but no source links the awards to guest volumes, pricing, revenue or repeat demand.

04 · What to watch

Three questions for the next disclosures

The next disclosures should move from opening descriptions to property-level operating evidence.

  • Pical rampDoes Valamar disclose occupancy, rate or guest-use evidence for Pical after its first full peak season and into the year-round period?
  • Brulo operationsDo Sunny Poreč and shared Aquamar move from early-July debut to stable staffing, service and guest-use evidence?
  • Gastronomy circuitDo later disclosures show how the Michelin-recognised restaurant network is used across Pical, Jadran and the wider Poreč destination?
